Dear S.O.A.R. Member –
As you know, the Anaheim Resort District is a critical economic engine for Anaheim and all of Orange County. Representing less than five percent of Anaheim’s land, the Resort District generates 50 percent of our City’s tax revenues. In addition, it creates jobs and unparalleled economic benefit throughout all of Orange County.
In this election year, we are reminded that some local races will dramatically impact our Resort District. The Support Our Anaheim Resort Political Action Committee (S.O.A.R. PAC) was established last year to help advance candidates and causes that support the Resort District’s vitality and ability to contribute to the local community.
To that end, I am pleased to announce that S.O.A.R. PAC has voted to endorse Anaheim Mayor Pro Tem Harry Sidhu for the 4th District Supervisorial seat.
Harry Sidhu is one of S.O.A.R.’s original members and a long-time champion of the Anaheim Resort District. He understands the importance of attracting tourism to the region and brings a strong understanding of what the success of the Anaheim Resort District means to all of Orange County. Ultimately, we have decided to endorse Harry because we believe he will be a great representative on the County Board of Supervisors. In addition to our enthusiastic endorsement, the PAC will be contributing $1,700 (the maximum amount allowed) to Harry’s campaign.
To give you a little background on Harry, he was first elected to the Anaheim City Council in 2004 and was overwhelmingly re-elected to a second term in 2008. On the council, he quickly established a reputation as a tough-minded advocate for streamlined, efficient government and as a champion of small business. He also ensured the protection of property rights through the successful passage of a City Charter Amendment prohibiting eminent domain abuse. We believe that Harry has the experience to lead and the passion and determination to do what is right for Orange County. We encourage all S.O.A.R. members to support him in this race for the 4th District seat on the County Board of Supervisors.
